New Mexico 4-H state ambassadors, diplomats named

The 2014 4-H state ambassadors and diplomats were inducted into office during the 4-H Senior Leadership Retreat in Albuquerque in January.

New Mexico 4-H 2014 state leadership team are, from left, Ambassador Molly Thomas, Ambassador Kaitlyn Eldred, Diplomat Kelsey Hayes, Diplomat Sean Owensby, Ambassador Ethan Grant, and Diplomat Kylie Hutchison. The senior 4-H members will share responsibilities in planning and conducting the 2014 Senior Leadership Retreat and assisting with the State 4-H Conference.

The ambassador team is Ethan Grant, Molly Thomas and Kaitlyn Eldred, all of Bernalillo County. Members of the diplomat team are Kyle Hutchison of Lincoln County, Sean Owensby of Union County and Kelsey Hayes of Bernalillo County.

The senior 4-H members will share the ambassador and diplomat responsibilities, which include assisting with livestock shows at the New Mexico State Fair, planning and conducting the 2014 senior leadership retreat and assisting with the State 4-H Conference.

They will also attend an Arizona team leadership camp, "Journey: Opportunities for Leaders of Tomorrow," and assist the New Mexico 4-H Youth Foundation in contacting donors and with public relations.

The two three-person teams were selected from applicants judged on their public speaking - on the topic of how to attract more 4-H members to the senior leadership retreat - and how they performed during a group project.
