Four Bernalillo County 4-H members were inducted onto the state leadership team during the 4-H Senior Leadership Retreat in Albuquerque in January.
Kaitlyn Eldred, Ethan Grant and Molly Thomas were inducted as State 4-H Ambassadors, while Kelsey Hayes was inducted as a State 4-H Diplomat. She joins Kylie Hutchison of Lincoln County and Sean Owensby of Union County as this year's diplomats.
The senior 4-H members will share the ambassador and diplomat responsibilities, which include assisting with livestock shows at the New Mexico State Fair, planning and conducting the 2014 senior leadership retreat and assisting with the State 4-H Conference.
They will also attend an Arizona team leadership camp, "Journey: Opportunities for Leaders of Tomorrow," and assist the New Mexico 4-H Youth Foundation in contacting donors and with public relations.
The two three-person teams were selected from applicants judged on their public speaking - on the topic of how to attract more 4-H members to the senior leadership retreat ¬- and how they performed during a group project in which they built a tower from paper cups and tape.
