New Web-based exhibition features Loretto Academy

The New Mexico State University Library and the Rio Grande Historical Collections have announced a new Web exhibition, "The Loretto Academy of Las Cruces."

The Loretto Academy of Las Cruces was the first school established in southern New Mexico. In the early 1900s the academy lost students due to openings of other academies, World War I and the Great Depression. The Loretto Academy of Las Cruces was closed in 1943.

The Loretto exhibition was prepared by Portia Vescio of the Rio Grande Historical Collections and Wendy Simpson of the library's Technical Services Department.
