NMSU to celebrate National Public Health Week

New Mexico State University?s Department of Public Health Sciences is celebrating National Public Health Week April 7-11, with several activities on campus.

The department, which is in the College of Health and Social Services, is beginning the week with an information booth to raise awareness about sexually transmitted diseases. Students in the methods of health communication class and the Student Health Center will provide pamphlets. The event will include a flash mob performance at 11 a.m. Monday, April 7, outside Corbett Center.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, the Strive to be Tobacco Free campaign is hosting a Highway to Health Fair in Corbett Center West and Middle Ballrooms.

A brown bag luncheon also is slated for noon Wednesday, April 9, at the Health and Social Services Building Room 202. Anthony Cahill, director of the Division of Disability and Health Policy Center for Development and Disability at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine, will give a presentation, ?Opportunities for Professional Development in Disability and Public Health,? at the luncheon.
