Search committee picks finalists for NMSU College of Business dean

Two finalists have been chosen to interview on campus later this month in the search for a new dean to New Mexico State University's College of Business. The finalists will be on the NMSU campus to interview for the dean's position April 23 and 29.


?We had a range of candidates with diverse records of experience and background from around the U.S. and the world,? said Pookie Sautter, an NMSU distinguished marketing professor and search committee member. ?From information we have collected, it is a very competitive time for dean searches, so we feel very fortunate to have two candidates of such high caliber and credentials.?

The two finalists and the day they interview are:

?Stuart Michelson, is professor and former dean at Stetson University, will interview April 23.
?James Hoffman, is professor and former dean at Texas Tech University, will interview on April 29.

During their visit, the two finalists will meet with the university Executive Vice President and Provost Dan Howard, the search committee, and College of Business staff, faculty and students.

The 15-member search committee, chaired by Lowell Catlett, dean in the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Science, went through approximately 24 applications for the position before inviting two candidates to visit the campus.

?In reviewing the candidates? materials, the committee felt that each candidate has significant potential to be a collaborative and visionary leader for the NMSU College of Business and we are excited to learn more about them in the upcoming visits,? Sautter said.
