NMSU to host 18th annual Multicultural Research Symposium

The Counseling and Educational Psychology Department at NMSU will host the 18th annual Multicultural Research Symposium from 4:30-8 p.m. Thursday, May 1, in O?Donnell Hall, Room 111.

The event will begin with research presentations by counseling and educational psychology doctoral students. At 5:30 p.m., the symposium will feature a keynote address by Ruth E. Fassinger, titled ?And Still I Rise: Career Journeys of Prominent Diverse Women.?

Fassinger, a Fellow of the American Psychological Association, has served as dean of the College of Graduate and Professional Studies at John F. Kennedy University and as dean of the College of Education at California State University, Stanislaus. Her scholarly work is in the psychology of women and gender, sexuality, the psychology of work, research methodologies, and advocacy and social justice issues in mental health.

At 6:30 p.m., there will be a reception and poster presentation with other graduate students from within NMSU?s College of Education.
