NMSU Pre-freshman Engineering Program registration open

New Mexico State University?s Pre-freshman Engineering Program is now open for registration. The free summer program offered by the College of Engineering is designed to engage students through project-based activities and engineering innovation while incorporating science, technology and mathematics concepts.


The PREP summer camps are split into two groups based on grade level. Sessions for PREP 1 and 2 are available June 2-6 or June 9-13.

PREP 1, for sixth through eighth grade, is a five-day course that utilizes Project Lead the Way Gateway Academy Curriculum. Project Lead the Way is a nationwide program that focuses on bringing engineering curriculum into school classrooms. The curriculum is designed to expose middle-school students to engineering. PREP 1 will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

PREP 2, for ninth through eleventh grade, is a five-day course that focuses on advanced project-based learning and engineering innovation. The goal is to expose students to different engineering disciplines through projects and on-campus laboratory visits. PREP 2 will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and includes lunch.

There is no cost for PREP. The registration deadline has been extended to May 23. Registration applications can be found at http://engr.nmsu.edu/prep/index.shtml.
