Deadline for two Roberts Awards scholarships approaching

The deadline for applications for New Mexico State University's Roberts Memorial Student Award is 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 19.

erts Awards will be given to students who have contributed substantially toward enhancing the university's quality of life over the past year. Every spring one endowment award for $1,500 and one for $750 are presented.

The awards were established by George and Bernice Roberts of Las Cruces in memory of their sons, Stephen W. and Robert E. Roberts, who were killed in an automobile accident in Wyoming in 1978. Stephen graduated from New Mexico State in 1974. Robert was a student at New Mexico State at the time of the accident.

Roberts Memorial Student Award applicants must be enrolled for at least six credit hours this semester, be pursuing a degree on the main campus and plan to enroll at the university for the entire 2002-2003 academic year. A one-page typewritten statement commenting on the candidate's contributions to the quality of life at the university, a resume and three letters of recommendation must accompany the application.

Applications are available in the Students Services Office, all dean's offices, the front desk of all residence halls and the offices of all ethnic programs on campus. Applications have also been distributed to student organizations on campus.
