Arrowhead startup OneEighty expands to paperless event tickets

OneEighty, a startup company launched at New Mexico State University?s Arrowhead Technology Incubator, has become a new option when it comes to ticket vendors in the area.

The company, created by CEO Jon Forrest and Chief Operating Officer Timothy Swope, began as a no-charge membership club that gave NMSU students, staff and members of the Las Cruces community instant access to deeply discounted offers from local merchants through text messages. Still offering deals through text, OneEighty has shifted its focus to selling event tickets in a more convenient way ? through text.

?We haven?t ended anything,? Forrest said. ?We have added something new. Everyone can now be served with the new model. People can buy their tickets quickly ? you don?t have to pay the fees and it?s paperless. With the new service, we can bundle local merchants with the event that is happening and create more value for the consumer.?

Recently, the startup handled ticket sales for the Las Cruces Country Music Festival.

?You never quite know how the public will respond to a new product. Luckily for us, it has been overwhelming,? Swope said. ?We came to market with an idea, and the market gave us the insight on how to truly fill the voids in the ticketing industry. We finally feel whole.?

Users will be alerted to events based on their preferences and be given the opportunity to buy tickets once they go on sale. Once a purchase has been made, users will only need to provide their phone number and a confirmation code at the door of an event.

?Our number one focus is to always know the consumer needs,? Swope said. ?Having the ability to adapt and change while keeping our foundation gives us that ability to truly be an advocate for the consumer and the merchants.?

Currently, OneEighty is only selling tickets to events with general admission. Assigned seating events are something that may become available in the future. For more information, to sign up or to become a merchant with OneEighty, visit 180tix.com or like them on Facebook at facebook.com/180tix.

?Any general admission ticket will be more efficiently sold through 180tix,? Forrest said. ?It is just so much easier to buy tickets through text for concerts, festivals, fairs, amusement parks or athletic events. There is no limit to what we can do.?
