Community discussion on teaching students in poverty has been canceled

The community discussion with educator and social justice advocate Paul Gorski on teaching students in poverty that was scheduled for May 17 has been canceled. The event will be rescheduled during the 2014-2015 academic year.

The event would have been the final part of ?Exploring Equity, Community & Hope in New Mexico,? a series of community gatherings, hosted this spring by New Mexico State University College of Education associate professor Azadeh Osanloo, who serves as the Stan Fulton Chair for the Improvement of Border and Rural Schools.

Osanloo said the series was intended to support the development of new relationships and networks in southern New Mexico, particularly between educators and the community, to share current experiences and collaborate in support of success for all students.

She said she is looking forward to rescheduling this important discussion during the next academic year.
