Cuban author to read at New Mexico State University

Cuban poet Carlota Caulfield will read from and discuss her latest bilingual collection of poetry, "A las puertas del papel con amoroso fuego/ At the Paper Gates with Burning Desire," from 4:30-7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, in New Mexico State University's Breland Hall Room 173B, and 1:10-2:25 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, in Breland Hall Room 173A.



Cuban poet Carlota Caulfield will visit New Mexico State University to read from and discuss her latest bilingual collection of poetry, "A las puertas del papel con amoroso fuego/ At the Paper Gates with Burning Desire."

The book received an honorable mention in the 1997 Latino Literature Prize for Published Books in Poetry, awarded by the Latin American Writers Institute of New York. It is available for sale in the New Mexico State University Bookstore.

Other collections of Caulfield's poetry include "Oscuridad divina," "34th Street and Other Poems," "Angel Dust/Polvo de angel," "Book of the XXXIX Steps," "Quincunce," and "Autorretrato en ojo ajeno." Some of her books are available on reserve at the university's Zuhl Library.

Both discussions are mainly in Spanish and are free and open to the public. They are sponsored by the Center for Latin American Studies and the Department of Languages and Linguistics.
