"Conversations about Islam" opens Women's History Month

"Conversations About Islam: Gender, History, and Culture" is the title of a series of events scheduled by the Women's Studies Program to kick off Women's History Month. The series includes:


nd the Muslim World: Two Documentaries, 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 4, Fountain Theater, Mesilla.

The Islamic View of Jihad and a Just Society, with guest speaker Karima Alavi, 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, at the Corbett Center Ballroom on campus.

A reception for an exhibit of Islamic women's Art, 8 p.m. Friday, March 8, at the Corbett Center Art Gallery.

An event previously scheduled for Saturday, March 9, "Muslim and Non-Muslim: A Friendly Gathering," has been postponed.

These events are co-sponsored by the New Mexico Endowment for the Humanities; the NMSU Departments of Curriculum and Instruction, Government, History, Languages and Linguistics, Philosophy, Psychology, Sociology and Anthropology; and the CIP Office of Study Abroad.
