New Mexico State University events Nov. 15-21

The following is a list of events taking place on the New Mexico State University Las Cruces campus between the dates of Nov. 15 and 21.


The NMSU Department of Astronomy and Southern New Mexico Natural History Foundation will host a Sky Safari event from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, at the NMSU Campus Observatory. Participants will be able to observe the Andromeda Galaxy as well as several open and globular star clusters.


The Center for Latin American and Border Studies will host a talk at 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, at the Nason House. University of Kansas department chair of Film and Media Studies Tamara Falicov will present ?On-Co Production and Collaboration: How International Film Festivals Help Shape and Circulate Latin American Cinema.? This talk will discuss how European film festivals are providing opportunities for Latin American filmmakers.


CB McKenzie, author of southewestern-themed mystery ?Bad Country,? will host a reading and signing at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, at the Barnes & Noble at NMSU Bookstore & Cafe. The event is free and open to the public. Barnes & Noble at NMSU is located at 1400 E. University Avenue, and all campus parking is free on the weekends. Alabama and Jamie Lynn Spears will bring the ?All American Tour 2014? to NMSU at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, at the Pan American Center. Tickets are still available at the Pan Am Ticket Office starting at $30.50 plus applicable taxes. They can also be purchased at all Ticketmaster outlets, by phone at 800-745-3000 and online at http://bit.ly/1pNyO1I. Military members can save $5 per ticket with a military ID at any Ticketmaster outlet, including the Pan Am Ticket Office. The offer is not available at Ticketmaster.com. Sodexo Campus Dining will host two Thanksigiving lunches before the break. First, the ?Early Thanksgiving? Bistro Buffet will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19 at the Stan Fulton Athletic Center?s Third Floor Bistro at the Danny Villanueva Victory Club. Admission is $10.99 plus tax and Aggie Cash and Aggie Dining Dollars are accepted. The menu will include maple and sage roasted turkey, stone ground mustard and herb crusted pork loin, roasted garlic mashed potatoes and gravy, green bean casserole with buttermilk fried shallots and freshly baked pecan and pumpkin pies. The second dining event will take place at the Corbett Center Student Union?s Taos Restaurant between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20. The buffet will include carved roast turkey, carved ham, whipped potatoes, candied yams, green bean casserole, Waldrof salad, butternut squash soup, dinner rolls and apple, pecan and pumpkin pies.
