Maier, specialist in the Department of Extension Plant Sciences, has over 25 years of experience in the viticulture industry, and will share his experience and tips for pruning grapes in this free workshop.

?The workshop will include a walking tour of the vineyard, where we will be discussing pruning, tool selection, trellis systems, transplanting and vine propagation,? said Daniel Goodrich, Extension Plant Sciences. ?This is open to the general public, so anyone with an interest in grapevine maintenance, and growing grapes is welcome.?

Attendees can expect to learn how to prune grape vines using two methods: cane and spur pruning, and the proper tool selection for pruning.

?They will learn plant propagation in regards to grape vines, trellis structure and different systems used in grape growing,? Goodrich added.

Participants do not need to sign up for this workshop. For more information contact Daniel Goodrich at 505-929-3942.
