NMSU to host vertebrate pest management workshop in Los Lunas

LOS LUNAS ? Tired of dealing with mice and rats, gophers and even skunks? The big question is, how does a person manage these critters?

Learn methods to manage unwanted vertebrate pests at a workshop hosted by New Mexico State University Valencia County Cooperative Extension Service and NMSU?s Agricultural Science Center at Los Lunas from 8 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Feb. 25, at the science center, 1036 Miller Road, in Los Lunas.

?Everyone in the community deals with vertebrate pests at one time or another, whether it?s in their homes, yards or crops,? said Newt McCarty, Valencia County Extension agricultural agent. ?There are multiple ways of managing the various pests.?

During the free workshop, Sam Smallidge, NMSU Extension wildlife specialists, will discuss methods to manage unwanted vertebrate pests.
