NMSU College of Education ranks fifth in the nation for best online master?s programs

The New Mexico State University College of Education has been ranked fifth for the Best Online Master?s Education Programs for 2015 according to TeachTomorrow.org.

?This ranking is another example of the excellent programs offered in the College of Education at New Mexico State University,? said Michael Morehead, College of Education dean. ?Our college?s implementation of excellent online education indicates our commitment to the land-grant mission of NMSU and our support for student access. New Mexico is a rural state and by providing exceptional online programs our college is reaching out to individuals in communities who otherwise could not access graduate degrees.?

The rankings were based on a combination of affordability, quality and support services to assist students earning advanced credentials. Universities must be four-year, public institutions and offer a minimum of one online master?s in education degree program to qualify for the TeachTomorrow.org rankings. A few of the key scoring metrics include online tuition cost, academic and career counseling services and job placement services for graduates.

?This is the third time in five years an organization has ranked our online master and or doctoral programs in the top 10,? he said. ?A special thanks to our faculty who have made this happen. Because of their hard work and vision, our online graduate programs keep receiving recognition.?

In January, NMSU was listed as one of the Best Online Graduate Education Programs according to U.S. News & World Report for the third consecutive year. Additionally, NMSU was honored as a top university for awarding degrees to Hispanic students in fall 2014 when Diverse: Issues in Higher Education ranked NMSU seventh in awarding bachelor?s degrees in education to Hispanics.
