Sodexo Campus Dining at NMSU offers free home-cooked meal to local families

Sodexo Campus Dining at New Mexico State University will offer a free home-cooked meal at the El Caldito Soup Kitchen on Saturday to families in need in Las Cruces. The event is part of Sodexo?s Servathon initiative, in which employees around the world team up to fight hunger.

The meal will feature chicken with green chile cream sauce, personal pizzas, mixed vegetables, salad with carrots, croutons and tomatoes, steamed rice, dinner rolls and a variety of dessert bars. Attendees should arrive between 5 and 7 p.m. Saturday at El Caldito, 999 W. Amador Ave.

According to Feeding America, a national network of food banks, 18.6 percent of New Mexico?s population is currently food insecure ? including more than 150,350 children in the state.

?These local hunger statistics are staggering, and they underline the importance of events like Servathon and organizations like the El Caldito Soup Kitchen,? said John Rivers, marketing coordinator for Sodexo at NMSU. ?We?re very proud of our partnership with NMSU, and we especially take pride in our volunteer work fighting hunger in our community.?

Servathon is Sodexo?s largest global Stop Hunger event. For more information about Saturday?s dinner or Sodexo Campus Dining at NMSU, call 575-646-4801 or visit http://dining.nmsu.edu.
