General Motors gives $75,000 to three New Mexico State University departments

General Motors recently awarded $75,000 to New Mexico State University to benefit Placement and Career Services and the Colleges of Engineering and Business Administration and Economics.

lege of Engineering will receive $60,000 for engineering scholarships and to support the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Conference, the Society of Professional Engineers, the Society of Women Engineers, the Mini-Baja Competition, the Regional Alliance for Science, Engineering and Mathematics for Students with Disabilities, senior Capstone design projects and to help outfit a new electrical engineering laboratory.

The College of Business Administration and Economics will receive $12,000 to support scholarships for students pursuing master's degrees in business administration and $1,000 for the Hispanic Business Student Association Conference.

Placement and Career Services will receive $2,000 for general operating support, such as purchasing equipment and enhancing student pay.

This award was the final gift in a four-year commitment from GM totaling $300,000. GM has many recruitment, co-op and internship programs at New Mexico State, especially for minority students.
