Featured artist to speak at University Art Gallery at NMSU

WHO: Millee Tibbs, a featured artist in the University Art Gallery?s summer exhibition, ?Re: Visioning the West.?


WHAT: Tibbs will host a gallery talk on how the western landscape has been presented throughout history in order to support the major ideas behind Manifest Destiny in 19th Century expansionism.
WHERE: University Art Gallery at New Mexico State University; 1390 E. University Ave.
WHEN: 6- 7 p.m. Thursday, July 16
VISUALS: Tibbs will speak to gallery guests about her work, which is on display at the UAG and explores the relationship between viewing a landscape in person versus viewing a landscape through photography. In her compositions, she presents the photographed landscape with manipulated folds, overlays and stitches. This talk is part of the University Art Gallery?s summer show, which features paintings, photography, film, mixed media, sculptural work and more. This event is free and open to the public.
