NMSU Dance Program to host performances of ?Vivaldi?s Four Seasons,? ?The Toy Box?

The New Mexico State University Dance Program will showcase the talent of its summer dance institute students during two performances this weekend at the NMSU Center for the Arts.

The program will present performances of ?Vivaldi?s Four Seasons? and an original creation, ?The Toy Box,? which features choreography by dance director Debra Knapp, Contemporary Dance Theater director Ann Gavit, dance alumni and current dance majors. Performances will be at 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, at the NMSU Center for the Arts, 1000 E. University.

The dance concert is the culminating event of the dance program?s summer dance institute for students ages 11-18, Knapp said.

?It has been so fun working with our young community dancers from studios in Las Cruces and El Paso,? Knapp said. ?These dancers have worked very hard on the choreography that they will be performing on Saturday.?

Tickets may be purchased at the NMSU dance office in the Delamater Activity Center, 1600 Stewart, Room 204. Tickets may also be purchased at the door or over the phone by calling 575-646-4079. Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for students and seniors, and $5 for children under 12.
