NMSU to host GIS professional development workshop for K-12 teachers

WHO: New Mexico State University Department of Geography, College of Arts and Sciences


WHAT: Free two-day Geographic Information Systems intensive training and professional development workshop for K-12 educators to learn to use and subsequently teach GIS in their classrooms. The event is offered through the New Mexico Geographic Alliance at NMSU, and sponsored by the Environmental Systems Research Institute. The purpose of this training is to fulfill the requirements of a small ConnectED grant from the Environmental Systems Research Institute.

WHERE: NMSU campus, Breland Hall Rm. 192

WHEN: 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4, and Saturday, Sept. 5

VISUALS: Roughly 10 K-12 educators from disciplines such as math, physics and social studies will be in attendance. Participating teachers will represent schools from cities all over New Mexico, including Hobbs, Albuquerque, Deming, Santa Fe, Carlsbad and Las Cruces.
