Principal trombonist of New Mexico Symphony to perform at student recital

New Mexico State University Trombone Studio students will perform at a trombone recital at 7 p.m. Monday, April 1, in the Recital Hall of the Music Center on campus.



New Mexico Symphony principal trombonist, Debra Taylor, will perform at a student recital April 1.

The 14 featured student instrumentalists are studying under the instruction of New Mexico State trombone professor Allan Kaplan.

The recital will feature the principal trombonist of the New Mexico Symphony, Debra Taylor, who is a trombone instructor at the University of New Mexico. She has appeared at Carnegie Hall with the New York Trumpet Ensemble and has held positions with Chicago's Grant Park Symphony, the Santa Fe Opera Orchestra, the San Diego Symphony and the Florida Symphony in Orlando.

Taylor will present a master class at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, April 1, in Room 107 of the Music Center. During the master class, students will perform for Taylor and she will evaluate their performances and give a brief private lesson for the group.
