NMSU invites community to become Friends of the University Art Gallery

The University Art Gallery at New Mexico State University invites its supporters to become Friends of the UAG at a membership party from 4-7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26. Visitors will have the opportunity to view the fall exhibitions, ?Between Here and There? and ?Your General Store,? while enjoying entertainment and refreshments.

?Membership donations help us to continue to bring outstanding art and events to our community,? said Marisa Sage, director of the gallery, which is a part of the College of Arts and Sciences.

Goals behind these memberships include engaging the community with the art gallery, fundraising for UAG programming, educating through collaboration and outreach, and showcasing exciting contemporary art alongside important regional trends.

?We are most known for our exceptional art exhibits and interesting experiential workshops, lectures and events,? Sage said. ?This gallery is a very special place and has an extensive collection of contemporary art, as well as the largest collection of Mexican retablos in the U.S. ? in fact there are 1,520 retablos in this collection.?

Friends of the UAG receive information about the gallery through an e-newsletter, and are given different benefits at each of the three membership levels: $25, $100 and $500-plus.

Membership fees are tax deductible and will support free art exhibits, programs, workshops and receptions. Yearly memberships start every July.

To attend the UAG?s ?Become a Friend? membership party, RSVP to artglry@nmsu.edu by Friday, Sept. 18. For more information or to become a Friend of the University Art Gallery, visit http://uag.nmsu.edu/make-a-gift-to-the-galle/.
