NMSU official ring ceremony to be held Dec. 2

The New Mexico State University Alumni Association will host its annual ring ceremony at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, at the Trader?s Plaza near Aggie Memorial Tower. A reception will follow.

This year, 51 graduating students and past graduates who have met academic requirements established by NMSU will participate, including NMSU Associate Vice President for Alumni Engagement and Participation Leslie Cervantes, a 1986 graduate.

The ceremony, steeped in tradition, celebrates the personal and academic accomplishments of each participating Aggie, which are signified in their ring. Each year, alumna Jo Lytle, owner of Hatch Chile Express, donates the small chile ristras that are tied to the rings and presented to the recipients. The rings were created to represent the land-grant mission of NMSU and, most importantly, the community in which every Aggie belongs while on their journey of discovery at NMSU.

The public is invited to attend the ceremony. For more information about the official NMSU ring, visit http://advancing.nmsu.edu/alumni/traditions-and-history/nmsu-official-ring
