NMSU?s College of ACES honors outstanding students for the Fall 2015 semester

The New Mexico State University College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences Awards Selection Committee has selected 17 students to receive awards for their efforts during the Fall 2015 semester.


?The College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences has always felt that our students are a top priority to us,? said Interim Associate Dean and Director of Academic Programs Gerald Hawkes, ?The students in ACES and their families have accomplished a great milestone upon graduation. Recognizing these students is our way of thanking them for allowing us to come alongside of them in their educational journey through NMSU.?

Hawkes said the College of ACES believes that many students work hard during their college careers, and for that they deserve to be recognized for their efforts.

Student nominations are submitted each semester by the department heads and professors. The ACES Award Selection Committee, which is composed of seven members, meets to select from nominated students based on scholarships, leadership and service.

This year they selected 17 students to receive various awards.

The NMSU Alumni Outstanding Senior is Matisun Jane McDougal in the Family and Consumer Sciences department.

The Dean?s Award of Leadership Excellence was awarded to Amber Jimerson and Mabelle Roybal, both undergraduates.

The Dean?s Award of Excellence for Undergraduates was received by Savannah Salopek, Agricultural Economics and Agricultural Business; Klayton Bearup, Agricultural and Extension Education; Hunter Falco, Fish, Wildlife, and Conservation Ecology; Jasmine Singer, Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management; and Megan Stovall, Plant and Environmental Sciences.

The Dean?s Award of Excellence for Graduates was awarded to Marissa Bartmann in Agricultural Economics and Agricultural Business, and Bobbie Jo Fossberg in Agricultural and Extension Education.

The Outstanding Departmental Students who were selected were Lisa Michelle Shivers in Agricultural Economics and Agricultural Business, Cassie Jaquez in Agricultural and Extension Education, Elizabeth Cuevas in Family and Consumer Sciences, Lindsey Howard in Fish, Wildlife and Conservation Ecology, and Maxwell Johnson in Plant and Environmental Sciences.

The Dean?s Award of Academic Achievement was awarded to Zachary Flowers in Agricultural and Extension Education, and Kori Connole in Family and Consumer Sciences.

?We in ACES are incredibly proud of all of our students, and are confident that our students will be prepared to meet the challenges they face after graduation. The students recognized are some of the brightest, hardworking and dedicated that can be found on any campus, and we know that success will follow each of them,? Hawkes said. ?ACES faculty and staff would like congratulate our future leaders as they leave NMSU.?
