The evening will include door prizes, refreshments, a ?make your own valentines? section, as well as dancing and live music courtesy of the seven-piece doo-wop band, Remember Then?A Class Act.

?This is going to be an amazingly fun event, and a good cause too, as Friends of the UAG memberships go toward helping to fund our free programing,? said Marisa Sage, director of the University Art Gallery, which is part of the College of Arts and Sciences.

Attendees will be entered into the ?I ?Heart? Art Valentine?s Party? drawing for an original work of art. For each member whose guest becomes a Friend of the University Art Gallery, additional tickets will be added in their name to a separate drawing for an Eames molded plastic chair.

This event will also take place during the UAG?s first exhibition of 2016, ?Water! What is it Good For?? This show features multi-media art by Florida-based artist Bethany Taylor and Texas-based artist Brenda Perry, who consider multiple meanings and practices of environmental consciousness.

To attend the ?I ?Heart? Art Valentine?s Party,? current Friends of the UAG and their guests can RSVP to artglry@nmsu.edu or 575-646-2545, by Monday, Feb. 8. Non-members who are interested in attending the event can email artglry@nmsu.edu or call 575-646-2545 for more information on how to become a Friend of the UAG.

Friends of the UAG receive information about the gallery through an e-newsletter, and are given different benefits at each of the three membership levels: $25, $100 and $500-plus.

Goals behind these memberships include engaging the community with the art gallery, fundraising for UAG programming, educating through collaboration and outreach, and showcasing exciting contemporary art alongside important regional trends.
