?In addition to commemorating our heritage and recognizing staff, we are proud to join celebrations across the country in honoring the Army ROTC for its 100th anniversary,? said NMSU Chancellor Garrey Carruthers. ?Naturally, this is a fitting celebration as NMSU was founded as a land-grant institution based on agriculture, military science and mechanic arts studies.?

Employees, spouses and retirees are invited. Lunch will be provided by the NMSU Employee Council.

The keynote speaker will be Jack R. Fox, NMSU alumnus and Cabinet secretary for the New Mexico Department of Veterans? Services.

A flyover will take place at 12:10 p.m. by War Eagles Air Museum pilots Floyd Draper and Dan Taylor. Participants also may tour the Memorial Tower.

The Employee Council?s Employee Engagement and Recognition Committee will award the first-ever Caring Community Distinguished Student Support Award for Staff to recognize staff members who provide extraordinary support to students. The award was created by NMSU Chancellor Carruthers in 2015 to recognize the impact that staff members have on students? education and lives.

The award will be presented at the lunch on April 15 (then annually during even numbered years) to honor three staff members who have: created and implemented novel ways to assist students, for example through a new process or procedure; provided assistance to students above and beyond their daily, routine duties; and impacted students? education or lives in unique ways.

Also to be presented will be the NMSU Employee Council?s ?A? Mountain Staff Award, which will recognize an exemplary NMSU staff member who represents qualities of integrity, dedication, skill, endurance, resilience, determination and passion in performance of his or her duties. The recipient will be presented with a commemorative NMSU plaque.

A third recognition during the event will be the announcement of the newest addition to the Aggie Legends recognition series. Aggie Legends is a tradition that pays tribute to deceased alumni who achieved great success in their lives and supported NMSU in multiple ways.
