Press preview of "The Twilight Zone: Live on Stage" to be held June 4

The New Mexico State University Department of Theatre Arts and Seattle's Theater Schmeater will present a press preview of "The Twilight Zone: Live on Stage" at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, at the Hershel Zohn Theatre.

eview is being offered to local reviewers due to the limited number of performances.

"The Twilight Zone: Live on Stage" features three episodes from the famed television series presented as stage plays and is suitable for all audiences.

In "Eye of the Beholder," Janet Tyler sits in her hospital room with her face bandaged, having undergone 11 surgeries to correct a gross birth defect that has made her hideous. She is told if the operation is not a success she will be forced by the government to live in a colony of others who suffer from the same affliction. Her doctor begins to unveil her face, but all is not as it seems in "The Twilight Zone."

The Loren family and their robot servants are the subject of "The Lateness of the Hour." Jana Loren despises the robot servants her father created and begins to fear them as they take on human qualities. Her ability to convince her father to destroy the robots may stop something tragic from happening.

"Time Enough At Last" follows the life of bank teller Henry Bemis who wants nothing more than to read his books in peace and quiet. His boss, his customers and his wife refuse to let him do so, but when an atomic bomb explodes and kills everyone on Earth but him, he finds himself with "time enough at last" to read. In true "Twilight Zone fashion" events conspire against him.

The press preview will last about 90 minutes. The play will run June 6-21. For more information contact the play's director, Tom Smith, at (505) 646-5479.
