NMSU?s ?Tough Enough to Wear Pink? week set for Oct. 17-22

With October comes National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and New Mexico State University is ready for its annual ?Tough Enough to Wear Pink Week,? festivities scheduled Oct. 17 to 22. The effort promotes cancer awareness and raises money to fund cancer research in at the university.

One of the events taking place on the NMSU campus will be a luminaria remembrance ceremony on Monday, Oct. 17, at Sisbarro Community Park. Luminarias will be sold at the Pan American Center Ticket Office and Corbett Center and cost $2 each or $5 for three luminarias.

On Tuesday, Oct. 18, ASNMSU will host a student dinner at Taos Restaurant. The event will take place from 4-7 p.m. with ASNMSU hosting a silent auction.

The TETWP Shop for the Cure and the Fashion Show Luncheon will take place Thursday, Oct. 20, at the Pan American Center. Admission to the shopping event is free, but tickets must be purchased for the fashion show. For more information, contact 575-521-2213.

ON Saturday, Oct. 22, the Emma Jean Cervantes 5k/10k Run and Walk is scheduled. Registration is available online at www.pinkaggie.com or www.active.com. Race fees are $10 per person and $5 per NMSU student. Reporting time is at 7 a.m. outside of Hadley Hall and the event will begin at 8 a.m. That evening, the NMSU football team will take on Georgia Southern at 6 p.m. at Aggie Memorial Stadium.
