NMSU and American Southwest Theatre Company to hold auditions for fall plays

Auditions for New Mexico State University's Department of Theatre Arts and the American Southwest Theatre Company's fall 2003 season will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, at the Hershel Zohn Theater. Callback auditions will be held Sunday, Aug. 24.

ramie Project" will run Sept. 25-Oct. 6, "Africa A to Z" will run Oct. 21-25 and "A Christmas Carol" will run Nov. 26-Dec. 7, excluding Thanksgiving Day.

Roles are open to university students and the public. There are roles for men and women of all ages and there is a special call for African-American actors for "Africa A to Z." The role of Ebenezer Scrooge in "A Christmas Carol" has been pre-cast.

Theater arts majors must prepare two contemporary audition monologues, one comical and one serious. The combined time for the monologues must not exceed two minutes in length. Non-theater arts majors and members of the public may audition with one contemporary, serious monologue no longer than one minute and a half. All those auditioning must also sing 30 seconds of a Christmas song of their choice.

Actors are asked to sign up for a five-minute audition slot on the call board in the lobby of the Hershel Zohn Theatre. The sign-up list will be available Aug. 9.
