New Mexico State University announces 2003-2004 theater season

New Mexico State University's Department of Theatre Arts and the American Southwest Theatre Company (ASTC) have announced their 2003-2004 season.


st production of the season will be "The Laramie Project" by Moises Kaufman and members of Tectonic Theater Project. It will run from Sept. 26 to Oct. 5 with a special performance on Monday, Oct. 6, to benefit local charity Camino de Vida.

"Africa A to Z" will be presented Oct. 24 and 25. The play, written by theater department head Ruth Cantrell and Monika Mojica with original music by Fred Bugbee, will also tour area schools in January 2004.

From Nov. 28 to Dec. 7 "A Christmas Carol," with lyrics by Tom Smith and music by Roger Butterley, will be performed.

"Of Mice and Men," based on the book by John Steinbeck, opens the second half of the season with performances Feb. 13-22.

Performances of "What the Butler Saw" by Joe Orton will be held from March 12-21.

"Arcadia" by Tom Stoppard will conclude the 2003-2004 theater season with performances from April 30 to May 9.

Season tickets are on sale through Oct. 5 and range in price from $36-$55. A pick-your-own coupon book of eight tickets is available for $80. "Africa A to Z" is not included in the season ticket package and tickets for the play are $4-$5. Tickets for the benefit performance only of "The Laramie Project" may be purchased by contacting Camino de Vida.
