Kathryn Sepich memorial service set for Sept. 17

ico State University students, faculty, staff, family and friends will be celebrating Kathryn "Katie" Jaye Sepich's life Wednesday, Sept. 17, at the Outdoor Stage of the Corbett Center Student Union.
The memorial service will begin at 8:30 p.m.

"Katie Sepich was a beautiful, smart and loving woman," said close friend Ernesto Alvelais. "Her warmth would always cheer you up no matter what problem you were facing. She was the ideal NMSU student -- extremely kind and always going out of her way to help you."

Alvelais, vice president of ASNMSU and Sepich's friend for more than three years, said her parents need to know what an impact their daughter had on everyone.

"This will be a night to honor her," he said. "Who she was, what she was doing and how she impacted so many people. She was a special lady."

Sepich was a graduate student at NMSU. She was found dead Aug. 31 at the old Las Cruces dump.

A memorial fund has been set up in Sepich's name. Contributions can be sent to the NMSU Foundation, P.O. Box 3590, Las Cruces, NM 88003. A second memorial fund has been set up in her hometown of Carlsbad. Contributions can be sent to the Carlsbad Foundation, 116 South Canyon, Carlsbad, NM 88220.

For more information on the memorial service, contact Alvelais at (505) 646-4416.
