International Festival 2005 features cultures from many nations

A variety of music, art, culture and food will be on display at New Mexico State University's International Festival 2005.

Hosted by the university's Office for International Programs, the two-day festival will take place in the Corbett Center Ballrooms on the NMSU campus. Las Cruces area school children are invited to attend the festival from 9 a.m. to noon on Friday, March 4. The public is welcome to Saturday's festivities from noon to 4 p.m.

The International Festival provides the community with an opportunity to experience the different cultures at NMSU, which has an international population of more than 750 students from 75 countries.

Festival visitors will be entertained by music, dancing and games. Native art, clothing, artifacts, jewelry and photos also will be on display. International students participating in the festival will be dressed in their native fashions. Several student groups will prepare native foods and beverages that can be purchased on Saturday.

Admission to the festival is free, but there is a 50-cent donation for food items.
