Public input sought on NMSU presidential search

A public meeting will be held at New Mexico State University on Wednesday, Oct. 22, to seek public input as the university begins a search for its next president.

ting is scheduled for 10 to 10:45 a.m. in the Senate Chambers on the third floor of the Corbett Center Student Union on the main campus in Las Cruces. NMSU Board of Regents President Laura Conniff, Regent Felicia Ybarra, and Bill Funk of Korn/Ferry International, a consultant assisting with the search, will conduct the meeting.

The university's provost, William V. Flores, is serving as interim president during the search for a permanent replacement for Jay Gogue, who became president and chancellor at the University of Houston in August.

The public meeting is open to anyone who is interested in the search process. It will be preceded, at 9 a.m. in the same location, by an open session for students, faculty and staff of the university.

The meetings are part of a series of focus group sessions scheduled for Oct. 21 and 22 to seek input from various New Mexico State University stakeholders.
