NMSU to host "Paying for College" workshop

The Sallie Mae Fund and New Mexico State University's Upward Bound Program will co-sponsor a "Paying for College" workshop from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at Gerald Thomas Hall.

kshop will be delivered in English in Room 190 and Spanish in Room 194.

The free workshop will explain the benefits of continuing an education beyond high school, how to pay for college with various types of financial aid and the resources which can help students and their families prepare for the college admissions process.

During the workshop, two $500 scholarships will be awarded to high school students.

The Sallie Mae Fund's goal is to increase access to a postsecondary education for children in the United States by supporting programs and initiatives that help open doors to higher education and prepare families for their investment.

The Upward Bound Program is a federally-funded Trio program, which helps low-income and first-generation students attend and graduate from college.
