Specialist on international borders will speak on security threats Nov. 17

Malcolm Anderson, a world-renowned specialist on international borders, will give a lecture on "Security Threats and Responses to Them in Europe" at 4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 17, in the Commons Room at the Conroy Honors Center, located at the corner of Espina Street and University Avenue.


n, a professor emeritus at the University of Edinburgh and a consultant with the Development Researchers Network, is a former Senior Fellow at the Centre of European Policy Studies in Brussels, Belgium. He will sign copies of his book, "Frontiers: Territory and State Formation in the Contemporary World Polity," after the lecture.

A spring 2002 visiting professor in the government department at NMSU, Anderson has received fellowships from the Rockefeller Foundation, the Leverhulme Trust, the Social Science Research Council and the Nuffield Trust.

The lecture, free and open to the public, is sponsored by the departments of government, criminal justice and history, the Honors Program and the Arts and Sciences dean's office.
