Evening child care available to New Mexico State students and faculty

An evening child care program for the young children of students and faculty taking or teaching evening classes at New Mexico State University will be available again during the fall semester.

are for children ages 3 to 8 is provided from 3:45 to 9:45 p.m. Monday through Thursday in Room 113 of O'Donnell Hall.

Parents can enroll children for just the days and times that they are in class. Monthly tuition prices will vary according to income and the amount of time the child is in care. The rates have been decreased this semester thanks to funding from the Associated Students of New Mexico State University, said Julie Clark, program director.

"The service addresses a critical need for parents because of the difficulty in finding evening child care in the community," Clark said. "Because many students are working full time, it is necessary for us to offer courses in the evenings."

Evening staff members include students working on degrees in early childhood education or elementary education.

Children will participate in developmentally appropriate activities and nutritious snacks are available, Clark said.
