New Mexico State University Board of Regents to meet in Ruidoso July 20

The Board of Regents of New Mexico State University will hold a retreat and a regular meeting on Friday, July 20, at the Ruidoso Convention Center in Ruidoso.


pose of the retreat, scheduled for 9:30 a.m. in Room 1 - Sierra, is to discuss tasks and issues for the university in 2001-2002. The regular session of the board is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. in Room 2 - Capitan. Items on the proposed agenda for this meeting include:

- Approval to award an honorary master's degree in agriculture to Randy Dale Farmer.

- Approval to name two rooms in Goddard Hall, one to be named the "Jerome and Joyce Shaw Conference Room" and the other the "Boeing Multimedia Room."

- Approval of new or expanded research and public service and other line item project requests for fiscal year 2002-2003.

- Approval of long-term plans to address the athletic department deficit.

- Approval of the transfer of the Advanced Manufacturing Center facility to the Dona Ana Branch Community College.

- Approval of information technology projects for inclusion in the capital outlay request for the 2002 legislative session.

- Institutional reorganization report from President Jay Gogue.

- University Advancement year-end report from Interim Vice President Joe Creed.

- A report on the president's employment agreement and evaluation by the Board of Regents' personnel subcommittee.

Both the retreat and the regular meeting are open to the public. The open sessions will be preceded by a closed executive session at 8 a.m. Friday, July 20, in Room 1 - Sierra at the Convention Center, for the purpose of discussing personnel, real estate and legal matters.

The Convention Center is located at 111 Sierra Blanca Drive, off Mechem Drive.
