New Mexico State University police commander graduates from FBI academy

's National Academy Program offers 10 weeks of advanced legal, investigative and management training for selected officers. Lopez was among 264 officers who graduated in this session. The session included men and women from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, 24 countries, three military organizations and four federal civilian organizations.

Lopez is the fourth National Academy graduate from the university police department. Chief Lou Cabot graduated in 1988; Capt. David Niver, now retired, graduated in 1977; and Capt. Jaime Chavez graduated in 1999.
