Robles to receive Roberts Memorial Staff Award

Lupe Robles, a records specialist at New Mexico State University's College of Engineering, has been selected to receive the Stephen W. and Robert E. Roberts Memorial Staff Award.

Robles will be presented a plaque and the $750 award at a ceremony at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, in the Corbett Center Student Union Dona Ana Room 312. The presentation is open to the public.

The Roberts Memorial Staff Award is presented annually to a staff member who has made a contribution to university life and demonstrated dedication and outstanding service to the community.

"Lupe's positive attitude is seen daily, since she realizes that attitude simplifies all of life's problems," said Rosemarie Sanchez, assistant to the dean of the College of Engineering, who nominated Robles for the award.

"Lupe continues to promote NMSU in her daily activities and never tires of helping students who are in need of academic guidance, providing faculty and staff with expertise academic support, and most importantly, enjoys being at her job."

The Roberts Award was established in 1983 in memory of Stephen W. and Robert E. Roberts, son of former university Assistant Vice President for Business Affairs George W. Roberts and his wife, Bernice. The award is made possible through donations of the Roberts family and friends.

Stephen, a 1974 New Mexico State graduate, and Robert, a New Mexico State student at the time, were killed in an automobile accident in 1978.
