Correction on speaker for Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast

Wilson Blount, keynote speaker for New Mexico State University's 18th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast on Friday, Jan. 16, is a member of the Tuskegee Airmen, but not a member of the original group that fought in World War II.


graduated from Tuskegee University in 1966, was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force and served in various locations in the United States and overseas. After leaving active duty in 1978, he entered the civil service at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. Blount retired from the Air Force Reserve as a colonel in 1999 and retired from the civil service in 2000.

Blount is a member and co-founder of the Gen. Lloyd W. Newton Chapter of the Tuskegee Airmen at Kirkland Air Force Base in Albuquerque.
