All-State Youth Choir Festival to be at NMSU

One hundred and thirty-five elementary school students and 104 junior high and middle school students will participate in this year's All-State Youth Choir Festival Jan. 29-31 at New Mexico State University's Music Center Recital Hall.


fferle, a much sought-after performer and conductor in the Charleston, S.C., area, and Janet Galvan, professor of music at Ithaca College in New York, will be the clinicians for this year's festival.

Offerle is a member of the Carolina Chamber Chorale and co-owner of the "Carolina Vocal Arts Studio." Offerle has taught music in elementary, middle and high schools for 15 years. She received her master's degree of music in vocal performance from NMSU.

Galvan has conducted All-State and honors choral festivals throughout the United States and has presented numerous workshops at regional, national and international music conventions. She was a former member of the Grammy Award-winning Robert Shaw Festival Chorus.

The public is invited to the free choral program at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, in the Music Center Recital Hall.
