NMSU will host V-Day benefit production of "The Vagina Monologues"

The production team for New Mexico State University's 2004 V-Day will present "The Vagina Monologues" Feb. 6-8 at the Corbett Center Auditorium on the NMSU campus.

s a global movement to stop violence against women and girls and promotes creative events to increase awareness, raise money and revitalize the spirit of existing anti-violence organizations. Through V-Day campaigns, local volunteers and college students produce annual benefit performances of "The Vagina Monologues" to raise awareness and funds for anti-violence groups within their communities.

The money raised at the NMSU V-Day will support La Pinon Sexual Assault Recovery Services of Southern New Mexico, La Casa Inc. and Amigos de las Mujeres de Juarez.

Donations of $6 for students and $8 for general admission are suggested. There will be no reservations or pre-sale of tickets. Performances will be at 8 p.m. on Feb. 6 and 7 and 7 p.m. on Feb. 8.

V-Day at NMSU is sponsored by the American Southwest Theatre Company, NMSU School of Social Work, NMSU Department of Theatre Arts, No Strings Theatre Company and KRUX-FM.
