New Mexico State University to recognize 160 outstanding black students

New Mexico State University's Office of Black Programs will honor 160 black scholars during the annual Clara Belle Williams Award Ceremony at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 2, in the Corbett Center Auditorium.

orees are from the Las Cruces, Alamogordo and El Paso communities. The event also will recognize students who graduated in fall 2003.

Linda Lacey, dean of NMSU's graduate school, will be this year's guest speaker. A reception will follow the ceremony.

The ceremony honors the memory of Clara Belle Williams, the university's first black graduate in 1937.
