Miss Native American NMSU 2004-05 crowned

New Mexico State University student Emily Ellison was recently crowned the 2004-2005 Miss Native American NMSU at the annual Miss Native American NMSU Pageant. The event was part of the American Indian Week festivities at the university.


is a member of the Navajo Tribe and is from Manuelito, N.M. She is a junior finance major at NMSU. Her duties as Miss Native American NMSU include representing the university in various activities and assisting the American Indian Program in public relations and recruiting.

Freshman civil engineering major Lavonna Begay was named first runner up and Miss Spirited in the pageant. She is a member of the Navajo Tribe and is from Tohajiilee, N.M.

Pamela Pino, also a member of the Navajo Tribe, was named second runner up, Miss Photogenic and Miss Congeniality. She is a junior biology major from Vanderwagon, N.M.

Lanell Pahe was named third runner up in the Miss Native American NMSU Pageant. She is a freshman civil engineering major from Crownpoint, N.M.

Miss Native American NMSU contestants were judged on public speaking, traditional activity and an impromptu question.
