Tyler Pruett named financial aid director

Tyler Pruett has been appointed director of financial aid and scholarship services at New Mexico State University.


served as associate director of financial aid at NMSU from January 1998 to January 2001. He has been director of student financial aid, implementation and training for the Apollo Group Inc./University of Phoenix since February 2001.

He will begin his new position on Aug. 15.

"Tyler brings the experience and perspective to create an integrated approach to financial aid and scholarship services," said Brad Bankhead, NMSU's associate vice president of enrollment management. "His experience at the University of Phoenix will help us immensely as we seek to expand Web-based services to NMSU students."

In addition to his financial aid experience at NMSU and the University of Phoenix, Pruett has worked in financial aid at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, and Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kan.

He earned his bachelor's degree in political science at Brigham Young University and a master's in public administration from BYU's Marriott School of Management. He has done doctoral course work in the College of Education at NMSU focusing on organizational change and human relations.

"Tyler will bring a student focus to the delivery of financial aid," said Jennifer Hiatt, director of housing and residential life, who chaired the selection committee.
