Gov. Richardson discusses legislative session on KRWG-TV

Gov. Bill Richardson gives KRWG-TV viewers a preview of the upcoming session of the New Mexico Legislature at 11 a.m. Sunday during a rebroadcast of the premiere of a new program: "Minding Your Business."

he topics Richardson addresses are education, economic development and the U.S.-Mexico border. Early childhood education and development are a key focus for the year, the governor says. He also wants the state to take a look at some interesting new issues such as the length of the school day.

Taped following Richardson's last day teaching a leadership course at the university with former Gov. Garrey Carruthers, now dean of the NMSU College of Business, the show focuses on what the session beginning Jan. 17 will mean to New Mexico residents.

Host and Executive Producer David Holly said the new program is intended to provide viewers with an understanding of current economic issues provided by the individuals who deal directly with those issues. It will also provide information to those companies that might be interested in locating in Las Cruces. Future guests include NMSU President Michael V. Martin, Steve Vierck, head of the Mesilla Valley Economic Development Alliance, and Las Cruces Mayor William Mattiace.

Holly, also the corporate fundraiser for KRWG-TV, said that while the program is not focusing on "gotchas," it will not shy away from discussion of provocative or controversial issues.

The weekly show airs at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and is repeated at 11 a.m. Sunday.
