Employment Extravaganza to be held at NMSU

New Mexico State University students and alumni will be able to talk to more than 50 employers from New Mexico, West Texas, Arizona and Colorado at the annual Employment Extravaganza, hosted by Placement and Career Services, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, in NMSU's Corbett Center Student Union Ballrooms.

s from all majors and classifications, freshman through alumni, and community college students are invited to take a look at the career opportunities in the area. They are encouraged to participate and talk with employers about specific work opportunities including summer/temporary, cooperative education positions (co-ops), internships and permanent positions.

"Most students wait too long to polish themselves to go into the competitive job world," said Mary Berry, event coordinator for Placement and Career Services. "The extravaganza gives students the chance to practice how to make themselves memorable for future employers."

Berry said it is important for students to bring several copies of their resumes as some employers will be conducting interviews the following day. She also said students should be dressed in professional attire.

"You only have one opportunity to present a good first impression, so you should always be neat," Berry said.

Employers who wish to participate in the Employment Extravaganza can still do so, pending space availability. Basic cost of registration for employers is $95 and includes one table and lunch for one representative. Additional services and meals can be purchased.

Berry said she expects 800 to 1,000 students to attend.
