NMSU campus observatory to hold open house March 3

New Mexico State University's Department of Astronomy will hold an open house at the campus observatory starting at 7 p.m. Friday, March 3.


permitting, participants will observe the Orion Nebula (stellar nursery), the Andromeda galaxy (M31), the planet Saturn, and the galaxies M81 and M82.

Astronomy personnel on hand will be faculty member Bernie McNamara and graduate students Ashley Ruiter and Joseph Wellhouse.

The Tombaugh Observatory is located east of Williams Avenue, near the running track. Admission is free and children are welcome. The domes are not heated, so dress according to the weather.
