Lions Survivor Camp offers early registration

The Lions Survivor Camp for deaf and hard of hearing children ages 5-13 held each summer at New Mexico State University is offering a discount for those who sign up by March 17.

ho register by March 17 will receive the discounted price of $30. The cost after early registration is $50. Early registrants also have to make arrangements for on-campus lodging by March 17. The lodging is optional, but available for an additional fee.

The Lions Survivor Camp will be held June 5-9. The camp is a program of the NMSU Adapted Physical Education (APE) program and is sponsored by the Sunrise Lions Club.

The camp welcomes children no matter what communication style they use. Campers will develop skills in dancing, swimming, outdoor games, rock wall climbing and more.

Camp counselors are NMSUAPE students who have experience with children of all abilities. Volunteers will range from deaf and hard of hearing adults to hearing adults that know sign language.

The Lion's Survivor Camp is directed by Scott Pedersen, a Nationally Certified Adapted Physical Educator and director of the NMSUAPE program.
